I always recommend moisturizing with water and then sealing with an oil. The water is absorbed by the cuticle layer of your hair strand and the oil will seal in the moisture. Of all the oils I use, Coco Nut oil is my favorite.

About Coconut Oil?

Coconut oil is a composition of elements which are potently antifungal and antibacterial in nature. Also, the oil has the added strength of important vitamins and minerals. These natural agents team up to provide the benefits of coconut oil on hair loss. Hair breakage results from a deficiency of certain nutrients in the hair. This deficiency can be made up with regular use of this oil, which would definitely result in rapid growth and improved health of the hair.

Is Coconut Oil Good For Hair?
YES! People who make it a point to massage their scalp with this oil, two times a week, are the ones who enjoy the real benefits. The importance of applying the oil deep into the roots of the hair is improved circulation. This in turn, helps in keeping the scalp from getting dry. And when the scalp is well moisturized, the coconut oil benefits for hair which result are the elimination of hair problems such as dandruff, lice, pimples, foul smell, itchiness, and of course dryness.

Coconut all is made up of a class of saturated fatty acids, which help in smoothing the scalp and keeping it soft. A moisturized scalp promotes hair growth because then there are no dead or dry skin cell to clog the hair follicle.

Benefits of coconut oil on natural hair occur in the form of less hair breakage. The oil adds to the strength of hair shaft. This is a particular benefit for people with dry hair. So when hair breakage is reduced, there are good chances of the hair reaching longer lengths and growing healthily. Due to all such benefits of using coconut oil on hair, the oil is used as one of the primary ingredients in several hair care products.

Ways to use Coconut Oil

Here is a simple trick of how to use the oil and get the most out of it. Warm some of the oil in a bowl. Let it cool down to a temperature which is tolerable to touch. Now, dip your fingers in the oil and then gently massage your scalp. Ensure that you cover every part of the scalp. The massage must go on for about 5 – 10 minutes. Take a few breaks in between lest your hands may get tired. Let the oil sit overnight. Wash your hair the next morning using a mild shampoo and lukewarm water. Ensure that you wash the hair properly as the oil may clog the hair follicles.

You can apply some coconut oil to your favorite deep conditioner. In the video below I show how you can do a deep conditioner. You can take a good amount of the deep conditioner out of the original container and put it into a bowl. Add a tablespoon of coconut oil to the bowl and mix.

You can use coconut to pre-poo your hair. In the video below I use oil and a very slip conditioner to pre-poo my natural hair. Wet your hair, add coconut oil to your hair then apply the conditioner and detangle your hair thoroughly before shampooing or cowashing your hair.

You can use coconut oil as a hot oil treatment for your hair.  In the video below I show you how to do a hot oil treatment. Wet your hair with warm water. Apply lots of coconut oil to your entire head. You can put on a cap and sit under a towel or heated cap or hooded dryer for 30 minutes. Then shampoo or cowash with your favorite products.
