Summer Hair Forecast | Protect Your Natural Hair From The Sun

My favorite season is finally here and it’s time for us to let our hair down–come on big ass afro and wash n go!  When the weather heats up the sun can really screw with your hair .

Skin isn’t the only thing that needs proper protection from the sun, did you know that our hair can be scorched by harsh rays?  The sun can leave the hair on your hair line and the ends of your hair dry and brittle.  If you wear your hair low or in a style where your scalp is exposed you can experience an itchy red scalp as a result of UV damage.

Before heading out the door, Celebrity stylist Ted Gibson recommends using a sun protection spray or leave in conditioning cream to lock in moisture. After sun exposure, give your sun burned tresses a hair mask.  Hair masks are heavier and have more emollience or softening properties than conditioner.  A mask is a great option to repair and renew damaged strands.
